David Alvarez - Student

Dear UNC Foundation Board of Directors,

My name is David Alvarez and I am a graduate student here at the University of Northern Colorado. I am in my second year of graduate school and will soon be completing my final project and I am early looking forward to graduation. This is a very exciting event for me and my family as I will become the first in my family to graduate with a master’s degree.

Born in Greeley, I was raised in California and then at the age of eleven moved to Eaton, CO where I graduated from Eaton High School. After school I attended the Colorado College on an academic scholarship and graduated with my bachelors in History and Political Science in 2009.

After college, there was still a desire for me to compete in athletics and so I applied to the University of Northern Colorado with hopes that I could wrestle while attaining my master’s degree. Only having one year of eligibility left in my athletic career, I wrestled for the Bears last year and enjoyed my time with the team. With wrestling completed, I turned my full attention back to the classroom and this summer I will finish up my coursework for my degree.

Although my master’s degree is in Social Practice, I am currently pastoring a small church in the heart of Denver, CO. The church will soon celebrate its one-year anniversary and I am thoroughly enjoying my time as we have seen much accomplished for the Lord. Upon graduation, I plan to continue working at the church and I know that my degree is social practice will be a great resource for me as I work with people from all walks of life.

On behalf of my family and me, I want to thank you so much for the Living Memorial Endowment. Without endowments like this, students like me would not be able to attend colleges of their choice. Your gift has truly been a blessing in my life and words are inadequate to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation. May the Lord richly bless you for the seed you have sown in my life and my future.

Sincerely,
David I Alvarez
