Responsibilities and Duties:
The Office Administrator will support the Foundation’s business operations for the overall purpose of advancing the fundraising and community support for UNC and supporting the core mission of the UNC Foundation. He/she will retain responsibility for various office support services, including light accounting and bookkeeping functions, mail handling and receivable processing, and office building operations as well as other priority projects for the organization. He/she will also serve the organization by supporting the Assistant Secretary for the Board of Directors and will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of quarterly Board and Committee meetings as well as preparation of communications, corporate documents, and minute taking. The Office Administrator will be employed by the UNC Foundation and will work with members of the UNC Foundation staff and University staff to help achieve established Foundation and University goals and objectives. This position will report to the Director of Accounting and will be accountable to the Vice President of Operations for responsibilities related to building operations and support of the Assistant Secretary.
The Foundation’s regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday; however, this role does occasionally require flexibility in hours and/or travel to accommodate offsite meetings.
Associate’s degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Previous bookkeeping or accounts payable experience is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, will be highly professional and capable of operating with discretion and maintaining confidentiality. Candidates must be organized and flexible and able to meet challenging and changing deadlines. Strong candidates will possess three to five years previous experience working in a higher education office environment. Strong Microsoft Office experience is required and advanced experience with Excel including pivot tables and v-look ups are preferred. Bookkeeping experience combined with aptitude, flexibility, a strong desire to learn, clear communication skills, attention to detail, and intense curiosity could be considered in lieu of a degree or higher education experience for the right candidate.
